STAR TREK veteran NICHELLE NICHOLS is awake, eating and “in good spirits” after suffering a stroke on Wednesday (03Jun15).
The 82-year-old actress, who portrayed Lieutenant Nyota Uhura in the longrunning sci-fi series, was admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles and underwent testing to determine the severity of her condition.
A representative for the star has now revealed she is doing well, and has suffered only minor mobility loss on her right side, indicating there is a good chance she will make a full recovery.
A statement posted on Nichols’ official Facebook.com page reads, “Nichelle Nichols has had both a CAT scan and an MRI (scan)… The CAT scan came back negative and we are awaiting the results from the MRI. Currently she is awake, eating, in good spirits and able to have full conversations. Her right side has shown minor signs or (of) mobility loss but she is not showing any signs of paralyses. We greatly appreciate all of the love and support her fans are showing at this time.”
